It is important to have a relationship where you can say "No!”

I am Yoshida, president of Yamada Shusei Ltd., a professional apparel garment repair group in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture.

The sexual assault problem at the Johnny's office and the Big Motor fraud problem both have in common that a charismatic leader ran the organization and repeatedly abused his power and ignored social rules and ethics.

We believe that the following points need to be considered in organizational development if we are to be applied to the sound management of the company.

1) Clarify the organization's objectives and policies and share them with employees.

Build an organizational culture and establish a code of ethics and conduct.

2)Appropriately design the organizational structure and personnel system, and clarify the division of roles and responsibilities. Evaluation and compensation should be fair and transparent.

(3) Communicate and provide feedback actively in order to increase employee motivation and engagement. Support skill development through education and training.

4) Listen to opinions and information from inside and outside the organization. When a problem occurs, deal with it as soon as possible, investigate the cause, and take measures to prevent recurrence.

It is easier said than done, but I felt that fundamentally, it is important to have a relationship that allows us to say "No!"
