It is normal for things not to go as planned!

I am Yoshida, president of Yamada Shusei Ltd., a professional apparel clothing repair group in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture.

The job of "repairing" is to deal with problems, so schedules and instructions tend to change quickly and easily. However, there were higher-ups.

The other day, a mental training coach I know asked me, "What is the secret to achieving your goals?"  The answer was "course correction", but I was surprised when I heard an example!

He told me that the probability of an airplane going on its scheduled route is "zero percent".

I had thought that airplanes basically followed their scheduled routes even if there were some irregularities due to weather conditions. However, the fact that even airplanes are constantly making "course corrections" gives us an idea about how to achieve our goals.

Setting goals is the first step toward realizing one's dreams and hopes. However, just because you set a goal does not necessarily mean that you will achieve it. You may encounter unexpected obstacles and difficulties along the way. In such cases, it is necessary to make a "course correction".

This means reviewing your current situation and environment while moving toward your goal, and changing your plan and methods as necessary. The benefits of "course correction" are as follows

1) It can increase your motivation toward your goals.

By making "course corrections," you can check your progress and accomplishments and feel that you are getting closer to your goals. It also allows you to act efficiently by optimizing your plans and methods to meet your goals.

2) You can have flexibility with respect to your goals.

By making "course corrections,"  you can determine if your goals are realistic. If your goals are too high or too low, you can adjust them to an appropriate level. It can also address external factors that affect your goals.

3) It can facilitate learning and growth to achieve goals.

By making "course corrections," you can identify your strengths and weaknesses and identify areas for improvement and challenges. It can also help you acquire knowledge and skills related to your goals.

Thus, "course correction" plays an important role in goal attainment. Achieving goals is not something that can be done overnight. It is important to take a long-term perspective and make "course corrections" on a regular basis.
